Michigan vs Washington: On Monday, Washington football’s 2023 college football season was short of its dream, as Kalen DeBoer, Michael Penix Jr., and company lost 34–13 to Michigan in the College Football Playoff title game. Michigan is rated #1.
Early on, Michigan delivered the Huskies a number of body punches as Wolverines running back Donovan Edwards scored touchdowns of 41 and 47 yards to give Michigan a 14-0 lead. Penix and the Washington defense held strong, rallying the team to cut the score to 17-10 at the half. However, the Huskies’ second-half rally was never sustained.
The Huskies were only able to generate one field goal in the second half, and in the end, Edwards’ two touchdowns in the first quarter proved to be sufficient to defeat Washington. The Huskies ran 20 times for 46 yards while Penix completed 27 of 51 throws for 255 yards and one touchdown against two interceptions.
