New guidelines for coaching centers: The Education Ministry has issued instructions for coaching institutions across the country. Under this, coaching institutes will not be able to give admission to children below 16 years of age. Apart from this, guaranteeing correct numbers and lying are also banned.
These guidelines have been created to prepare for entrance exams like JEE, NEET and CLAT and all competitive exams after class 12th.
The Education Department has issued these guidelines in view of the increasing cases of student suicide, incidents of fire in schools and lack of facilities in coaching centres.
Guidelines fixed for coaching centres:
- Tutors with qualifications less than graduate will not be given faculty.
- Coaching centers cannot give false promises or good marks and ranks to parents.
- Students below 16 years of age cannot be included in coaching.
- Admission will be done only after secondary school examination.
- Teachers guilty of moral crimes will not be given faculty.
- No coaching registration will be available without the counseling system.
- The coaching center must provide all the information regarding qualification of faculty, course duration,
- hostel facilities and fees on its website.
- Children should not be motivated to perform well in classes; Instead, coaching should focus on the mental pain the children are experiencing.
- Teachers should make a system to help students in emergency or stable situations.
- An officer will ensure that a psychological counseling channel is available in the coaching centre.
- Also, all parents and students should be informed about the position, name and tenure of the counselor.
- Tutors can also take training in mental health topics.
- Tuition fees should also be fixed for different courses, and receipt of tuition fees should also be given.
- If the student has paid the full amount for the course and leaves it within 10 days, the student should get the remaining amount refunded.
- If the student stayed in the hostel of the coaching center then the hostel and mess charges will also be refunded.
- The course cost will never be increased in the middle of the course.
- If the instructions are not followed, a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh will be imposed on the coaching centers or the coaching registration will be cancelled.
With the help of these guidelines, a legal framework will be created for the functioning of coaching institutes across the country. Now the education department will control co-curricular activities, career guidance and psychological guidance in coaching institutes.
The government has offered to register existing and new coaching centers within three months of the implementation of the guidelines. The state government will also be responsible that all the coaching centers follow the guidelines issued.
