Sheikh Hasina will be the Prime Minister of Bangladesh: The current Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina (76) is going to become the Prime Minister for the fourth time. Hasina’s party Awami League won 204 out of 300 seats in the general elections held on January 7. This time voting was held on a total of 299 seats.
At the same time, Hasina won the election for the eighth consecutive time. He defeated Bangladesh Supreme Party candidate M Nizamuddin Lashkar from Gopalganj-3 seat by more than 2.49 lakh votes. Hasina got 2 lakh 49 thousand 965 votes, while Nizamuddin got only 469 votes. Hasina won the election for the first time in 1986.
This time 40% votes were cast in the elections, Bangladesh Election Commission said. This figure may change. 80 percent people voted in the 2018 elections. One of the country’s opposition parties, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), did not participate in the election.

BNP announces protest from tomorrow.
BNP chief and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia said that there are plans to start an anti-government movement in the country from Tuesday (January 9). This option is useless. BNP participated in the elections in 2018, although it was boycotted in 2014. Khaleda’s party also remained out of the elections this time.
Hasina’s order – workers should not celebrate victory.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has told leaders and workers of her party Awami League that they will not celebrate the victory and will not take out any rally or procession. Hasina’s secretary Syam Khan informed the Prime Minister about this on Sunday night. He said that there should not be violence after the results as it causes loss to the country.
“After voting, Hasina remarked, “We are lucky to have a dependable friend like India.” After 1975, our family was destroyed and we were given asylum. So good luck to the Indians. I want to maintain democracy in Bangladesh.”
Sheikh Hasina’s party won the maximum number of seats in 2018.
There are 350 seats in the Parliament of Bangladesh. Of these, twenty-five seats are for women. General elections are held every five years for 300 seats, but there are no elections for reserved seats.
There are three major political parties in Bangladesh: Bangladesh Awami League, Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Jatiya Party. In the 2018 general elections, candidates from these three parties had won 290 out of 300 seats. Of these, Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League won in 257, Jatiya Party in 26 and Khaleda Zia’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party in 7.
In 2024, there were 436 independent candidates contesting the elections apart from over 1,500 candidates from 27 political parties.
