Nine people were killed in the explosion—six women and three men—while three more were injured.

According to Harsh Poddar, Superintendent of Police, Rural Nagpur, the explosion took place during the packing of blast cast boosters in the plant. The impact of the blast was so severe that it led to the complete destruction of the building housing the CBH2 plant.

The explosion occurred around 9 AM on Sunday while the process of packing explosive materials was underway at the Blast Cast Booster plant.

Condolences and Support: Deputy CM Fadnavis Announces ₹5 Lakh Aid

Expressing grief on social media, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced financial aid of ₹5 lakh for the families who lost their loved ones in the Nagpur incident. He offered the impacted families his sympathies and promised financial help.

Previous Incidents: Another Blast in August

This year in August, the same company witnessed a fire incident, where an explosion in the waste resulted in the death of one employee and severe injuries to another. Only a few months later, on Sunday, a more catastrophic explosion occurred at the same facility.

These events raised questions about the safety procedures in place at such plants and highlighted the dangers connected to producing explosives for military use.
