Japan Earthquake of 7.4 magnitude; tsunami alert: 21 vibrations stronger than 4; emergency numbers provided by the Indian Embassy
Japan Earthquake: Mild earthquake tremors were felt in Japan on Monday. NHK, the Japanese media organization, reported its intensity as 7.4 on the Richter scale. The administration has sent a tsunami alert. The Japan Meteorological Department said there were also 21 aftershocks of four magnitudes.
The government says waves could reach up to 5 meters (16 ft) high. People living in coastal areas have been asked to go to safe places. At present there is no news of any death.
In view of the possibility of tsunami after the earthquake, the Indian Embassy has issued an emergency number. These are as follows: Contact numbers 81-80-3930-1715, 81-70-1492-0049, 81-80-3214-4734, 81-80-6229-5382.
Second earthquake of 6.2 magnitude after just 8 minutes.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said the earthquake occurred in Anamizu city, Ishikawa prefecture. Its center was ten kilometers below the earth. The earthquake was felt at 12:40 pm Indian time. The first aftershock of 6.2 magnitude was recorded just 8 minutes later. This was followed by a second aftershock of 5.2 magnitude. 21 The intensity of the aftershock was 4.
Keep a close eye on Fukushima plant.
Japanese media said that the Fukushima nuclear plant is being monitored. In fact, in March 2011, a magnitude 9 earthquake in Japan caused a massive tsunami. The Fukushima nuclear plant was then destroyed by the tsunami waves.
This was the largest incident of environmental damage. Then 10 meter high waves in the sea destroyed many cities. About 16 thousand people were killed in this.
Situated on the Ring of Fire is Japan.
Japan is the region most affected by earthquakes. Earthquakes keep happening here because it is near the junction of two tectonic plates. Ishikawa Prefecture, where the earthquake occurred, is close to a horseshoe-shaped series of seismic fault lines around the ocean.
The Ring of Fire consists of continental plates along with oceanic tectonic plates. An earthquake occurs when these plates collide. Due to these, tsunamis and volcanoes also erupt.
90% of earthquakes occur in the Ring of Fire. This area is 40 thousand kilometers. 75% of the active volcanoes worldwide are in this region. 15 countries are within the Bolivian Ring of Fire: Japan, Russia, Philippines, Indonesia, New Zealand, Antarctica, Canada, United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador, Chile.
Every year 20 thousand earthquakes occur in the world.
Many earthquakes occur every year around the world, but their intensity is low. Every year, the National Earthquake Information Center records about 20,000 earthquakes. 100 earthquakes cause the most damage. An earthquake lasts for minutes or seconds. The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake created the longest duration earthquake ever recorded. The earthquake lasted for ten minutes.
