What is Noun?

Noun is the name of person, place, object or thing is called Noun. in other words, we can say that in the sentence with the help of which the action is done is called Noun.

Subject= The thing by which an action is to be done is called the subject.

Object-What is being done in the sentence moves the object.

e.g.-

• The students have taken the decision.

in this sentence –

the student = Subject

Decision = Object

• Mr. Walia ,the manager will take the responsibility.

in this sentence –

Mr. Walia = Subject

Responsiblity = Object

Note-In this sentence ‘the manager’ is additional information(Attribute) about the Mr. Walia

• The question of the chapter confused me.

in this sentence –

The question = Subject

me = Object

Note-In this sentence ‘of the chapter’ is Partitive about the Mr. Walia.

• Priyanka, the finest singer joined the Hollywood.

in this sentence –

Priyanka= Subject

Hollywood = Object

The finest singer = Attribute

Joined= Verb

• The principal of our school had organized a party.

in this sentence –

The Principal= Subject

Party = Object

organized = Verb

our school = Partitive

• Vinay is a teacher.

in this sentence –

Vinay= Subject

Teacher = Subject Complement.

Note-What is Subject Complement.?

If a noun is followed by a verb and a noun is followed by a verb in a sentence, then the last noun represents the first noun, that is, it represents the subject itself, which is called a complement or sub complement.

• We are students.

in this sentence –

We= Subject

Students = Subject Complement.

• Swati become an actress.

in this sentence –

Swati = Subject

actress = Subject Complement.

• Rahul is Honest.

in this sentence –

Rahul = Subject

Honest = Adjective

Is= Verb

• Ankush is angry.

Ankush = Subject

angry = Adjective

Is= Verb

Types of Nouns-

1. Common Noun
2. Proper Noun
3. Abstract Noun
4. Material Noun
5. Collective Noun

Common Noun-

Such a type of noun which has the sense of caste of the whole group is called caste noun.

Example, King City, State Country Village Student Player.

Proper Noun-

The names of a certain person, object, place, animal or sense are called personal numbers.

Example Ram, Sam Akbar, Bihar, India, Rampur, Subham, Virat etc.

Abstract Noun-

Such a noun which has the sense of an emotion is called an emotional noun.

example- Love, Happiness, Childhood,

Collective Noun-

Such a noun, which gives the sense of the whole group caste, is called a collective noun.

Example- group of keys, team crowd, etc.

Material Noun

A noun that has the sense of a metal is called a metal noun.

Example- gold, Plastic. etc.

Classification of Noun

1. Countable Noun
2. Uncountable Noun.

Countable Noun-

In other language, if we say that there is such a number which we can count, that is, that which is countable is called Countable noun.

Uncountable Noun

In other language, if we say that there is such a number which we can not count, that is, that which is Uncountable is called Countable noun.
