Snowfall from Jammu and Kashmir to Uttarakhand: The recent snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand has led to a surge in cold weather across states including Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
Delhi Chilled to the Bone: On Friday, Delhi experienced its coldest day of the season, recording a minimum temperature of 4.9 degrees Celsius. Interestingly, Delhi is colder than Shimla, where the minimum temperature was noted at 6.8 degrees Celsius on the same day.
Haryana’s Chilling Hisar: According to the meteorological department, Hisar in Haryana, known for its plains, recorded the lowest temperature, dropping to 4.2 degrees Celsius. The majority of regions in India experienced reduced visibility due to the cold, reaching less than 500 meters in most areas.
Minimum Temperature Below 7 Degrees in MP-Rajasthan: Several regions in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan recorded minimum temperatures below 7 degrees Celsius. In Surguja, Chhattisgarh, dew formed, adding to the wintry atmosphere.
Dense Fog in Delhi-Punjab; Haze in UP and MP: According to the weather department, dense fog was observed on Friday in various areas of Delhi, including Lodi Road, Ayanagar, and Kartavya Path. Similar conditions were reported in Amritsar, Punjab, where the minimum temperature remained at 6 degrees Celsius. Cold waves led to freezing conditions in different parts of Amritsar.
Improvement in Delhi’s Air Quality: The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi improved on Friday, reaching 326, compared to the previous day. Despite the slight improvement, the air quality remains categorized as ‘Poor,’ indicating persistent pollution levels.
Weather Update in Other States:
- Madhya Pradesh: Minimum temperature dropped to 6.5 degrees in Umaria.
- Bihar: Patna and other cities experienced a drop in temperature, with Bhagalpur recording a minimum of 7 degrees.
- Chhattisgarh: Minimum temperature in Surguja district reached 3.6 degrees, causing dew to freeze.
Forecast for the Coming Weeks: No significant changes in temperatures are expected in the coming week for the mentioned regions. However, a slight drop in minimum temperatures is anticipated in some parts of the country in the next week.
