Gate Result: Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru has recently introduced GATE examination for admission to MTech courses. The GATE exam was taken in online mode on February 10 and 11 in two shifts.
After completing the exam, candidates will be able to take admission in specialized MTech courses like Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Biotechnology, Computer Science and Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering in some of the engineering colleges in the country.
With the help of GATE score, you can also take admission in research programs. At the same time, it can help in recruitment in PSUs (IOCL, ONGC and NTPC).

This time, those who get GATE score will know about the best government engineering colleges and MTech courses in the country.
1. Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M)
There are 15 different branches of engineering in IIT Madras. These include the departments of Humanities and Cultural Sciences, Aerospace Engineering, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Engineering Design, Ocean Engineering and Physics.
Teaching: In all these branches one can do two years MTech, two years MSc in Physics, Chemistry and Maths, and two years MA in Humanities. Apart from this, you can also take a two-year MBA course in the management department. You can also take admission in online MTech programs which include Automotive Technology and Mathematical Methods for Aerospace Engineers.
How to get admission: GATE score can get you admission in MTech courses.
2. Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D)
IIT-D has six schools, 16 departments and 11 specialized centres. These include departments like Chemical, Energy, Materials, Textile and Fiber Engineering.
It also includes Biological Sciences, Public Policy and Artificial Intelligence. At the same time, special centers have been created for Atmospheric Science, Educational Technology, Rural Development and Optics.
Teaching: Master of Science (MS), PhD and MTech courses can be taken in these departments. You can also do MBA course in management.
How to get admission: It is necessary to qualify GATE exam for admission to MTech courses. Can take admission in MS course on GATE or JAM score.
3. Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B)
Bombay Institute of Engineering and Technology has 16 departments. In addition, there are three schools and four research centers related to management, design and architecture. These research centers offer diplomas, certificates and academic degrees.
Teaching: In IIT-B one can pursue courses in these departments: MTech, MSc MDes, MBA, MS (Research), and MS in Development Practice.
How to get admission: It is mandatory to qualify JAM for admission to MSc courses. Whereas, admission in MTech programs will depend on GATE score.
4. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K)
IIT Kanpur has 11 departments, including Electrical Engineering, Management Sciences and Mechanical Engineering. The institute also has eight departments for humanities, economics and science. Apart from this there are five different dedicated centres: Nuclear Engineering, Photonics, Space, Planetary and Astronomical Sciences.
Education: Programs like BTech+MTech dual degree, MSc, MBA, MDes, MTech can be taken in these departments. Apart from this, one can also take PhD program. Also, you can apply to eMasters programs without GATE score.
How to get admission: GATE score is required for admission in MTech school. Whereas, CAT qualification is necessary for MBA.
5. Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT-K)
IIT Kharagpur has 19 departments (Engineering, Architecture, Law, Management, Science, Biotechnology, Humanities) and more than 25 research institutes. You can also take admission in Law, Management and Science from IIT-K.
Teaching: You can do MTech in courses like Multimedia Information Processing, Aerospace Engineering, Food Process Engineering, City Planning and Embedded Control and Software. Apart from this, you can also do MBA in Management.
How to get admission: GATE or CAT score can take admission in these courses.
6. Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT-R)
There are more than 23 departments in IIT Roorkee. These include applied mathematics and scientific computing, biosciences and bioengineering, economics and hydrology.
Teaching: In these departments one can pursue M.Tech, M.Tech VLSI for Industry professionals, M.Sc and Executive MBA courses.
How to get admission: IIT can apply for MSc and MTech courses on the basis of JAM, GATE, CAT and GMAT scores. After counselling, the final merit list is prepared on the basis of group discussion and personal interview.
7. Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G)
IITG has 11 departments. Apart from this, there are also nine schools and eleven dedicated research institutes. These include Agriculture and Agronomy, Disaster Management and Research, Drone Science, Indian Education System, Linguistic Science and Technology, Sustainable Hydropower Studies.
Teaching: In these departments you can do courses like Master of Science by Research or Master of Science by Technology.
How to get admission: You can take admission in these courses on the basis of GATE and IIT JAM scores.
8. NIT Trichy (National Institute of Technology) located in Tiruchirappalli.
There are 17 departments in NIT Tiruchirappalli. These include production and instrumentation engineering, electrical and electronics engineering and chemical engineering.
Teaching: In all these departments you can do courses like MTech, MSc or MBA. Apart from this, you can also take courses like MS by Research and PhD.
How to get admission: You can take admission in BArch course on the basis of JEE Mains results. Whereas, to take admission in MArch course, you must pass GATE, NIMCET or IIT JAM examination.
9. Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H).
IIT Hyderabad has three departments: Engineering, Science, Liberal Arts, Design and Management. Out of these, training is given in 17 branches namely Biotechnology, Climate Change, Computer Science and Engineering, Heritage Science and Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management. It is also home to the Center for Interdisciplinary Programs and the Greenco School of Sustainability.
Education: You can do courses like MTech, MSc, MDes, MA, Engineer MA, Bio Design.
How to get admission: You can take admission in these courses on the basis of marks of exams like GATE and IIT JAM.
10. Jadavpur University, Kolkata
Jadavpur University offers various subjects including arts, engineering and technology. Apart from this, there are also schools of management and law. This is a government university of West Bengal.
Tuition: 16 UG, 35 PG and also PhD courses can be done in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the University. Apart from this, UG Evening 5 years and PG Evening 3 years course can also be done here.
You can pursue Management and Technology (ME/MTech) courses in 14 branches, including information, construction, electronics and telecommunication, food technology and bio-chemical engineering.
How to get admission: It is mandatory to give GATE exam to get admission in the university.
