Central government shuts down Mahadev betting app: The central government has banned the Bhagwan betting app. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has ordered the blocking of 22 illegal betting apps and websites on the recommendation of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). These include Mahadev Book and Reddy Annapristopro.

The Minister of State for Information Technology said that the state government had full rights to recommend closure of the website or app under Section 69-A of the IT Act. But they did not do this. The government has been investigating this for the last two decades.

Action taken on ED’s demand-Ministry

The IT Minister said that the ED had sent the first and only request, on which action was taken. No one had stopped the Chhattisgarh government from making a similar request.

ED took major action on 2 November

In fact, Chhattisgarh Police constable Bhim Singh Yadav and a person named Asim Das were arrested by ED on November 2 on charges of money laundering. The ED issued a press note the very next day, in which notable claims were made.

Claim quoting the arrested ED agent: The money was given to the government; Bhupesh said that it is wrong to take names without investigation. On Friday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) announced that the promoters of Mahadev betting app had paid Rs 508 crore to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Asim Das, the cash courier, was arrested on Thursday, the ED said, adding that the investigation is currently underway.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided seven places near Saurabh Chandrakar, a mastermind associated with the online betting app business, in Bhilai in Durg district. The four-member ED team reached Bhilai at 7 am on Monday. Where a raid was conducted at the house of Deepak Savlani (now named Jaideep) in Nehru Nagar.
