Cyclone Michong will hit Andhra Pradesh today: Red alert in 8 districts, winds of 110 km/h

Cyclone Michong: which emerged from the Bay of Bengal on December 2, will hit Bapatla in Andhra Pradesh this afternoon between Nellore-Machilipatnam. The Meteorological Department (IMD) says that during this period winds can blow at a speed of 90 to 110 kilometers per hour (KMPH).

Andhra Pradesh is on high alert regarding cyclone. The state government has declared red alert in Tirupati, Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, Krishna, West Godavari, Konaseema and Kakinada districts. NDRF and SDRF have 5 teams each in each district.

On the other hand, there was a decrease in rainfall in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. Many areas in Chennai were flooded during the storm on Monday. Cars were seen floating on the roads. airplane standing at the airport.

Michong caused heavy damage in Tamil Nadu on 4 December.

Cyclone Michong caused considerable damage in Tamil Nadu before moving towards Andhra Pradesh. Chennai received around 400-500 mm of rain since the morning of December 3. Tamil Nadu’s Water Supply Minister said that such rain had happened for the first time in Chennai in 70-80 years. Five people have died so far.

The storm has canceled 204 trains and 70 flights in Tamil Nadu. 21 teams of NDRF are deployed in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. Ships and aircraft of the Army, Air Force and Coast Guard have also been kept on standby.

Which states of India will the storm affect?

Andhra Pradesh: IMD has issued a warning of heavy rain in Andhra Pradesh till Wednesday. Schools and colleges will remain closed on December 5 due to the storm. Bad weather led to the cancellation of all flights on Monday, Tirupati airport director KM Basavaraju said. These included one non-scheduled flight and twenty-four scheduled flights.

Odisha: Light rain has occurred in many districts of Odisha. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain till December 6. Orange alert has been issued in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam districts for December 4 and 5. These districts may receive 2.75 to 4.55 inches of rainfall.

Puducherry to Telangana: Puducherry government has also issued an alert in view of the storm. Section 144 is applicable in the maritime areas of Puducherry. Orders have been given not to go to coastal areas from 7 pm on 3 December to 6 pm on 5 December. Telangana administration has also issued a red alert regarding the storm.

Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh states: Light to moderate rain may occur over West Bengal, parts of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Karnataka. Light rain may occur at one or two places over Vidarbha, Telangana, Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Kerala.

Myanmar named storm Michaung

Myanmar has named the storm Michaung. It means flexibility and strength. Michong will be the first typhoon to cross the coast since Cyclone Gulab in September 2021. In the year 2023, Michong Cyclone will be the fourth storm to form in the Bay of Bengal and the sixth to form in the Indian Ocean.
